Hi
I know that the following is a heavy stuff for a "family blog"; but still I am posting it as it will give you an idea as to what my job is and is going to be.
In an interesting discussion in another forum I tried to bring out the essentials of Sustainability as I understand it. The Question asked was "what are the ten commandments of Sustainability". My answer was:
Sustainability covers a wider ranger of subjects than just environment; hence my ten commandments (not necessarily in order of priority) would be:
1. Work within the carrying capacity of the ecosystem in which you live and help to maintain the ecosystem
2. Improve resource productivity and reduce waste (this includes issues related to energy, water, materials, waste, pollution etc.)
3. Improve the lives of people, especially the underprivileged, through your actions/products/services and strive to eliminate poverty in whatever way you can
4. Ensure health and safety of employees at workplace
5. Avoid/eliminate corruption in any form in your dealings; be a law-abiding citizen
6. Respect other human beings and avoid/eliminate Human Rights violations
7. Avoid/eliminate discrimination of any form (gender, race, language etc.)
8. Honour labour rights and ensure fair wages to those who work for you
9. Spare your resources (like time, money, knowledge etc), if you can afford, for the betterment of this world
10. Work towards eliminating / avoiding things that have potential to eliminate the human race
I would seek your comments/additions/ deletions of the above commandments. Your critical view of the above is welcome.

How about a blog/website on sustainability.
You have an in-house expert in indhu to set it up for you :)

Dear Brother,
Your ten commandments are good for hearing. Adhearing to this, depends on society. What is your roll in making society to follow your 10 commandments. Just lip talk is not a worthy one. How to implement is necessary. This like our Polititions tall words.
Dear Brother,
It is good that you asked the question. Indeed I have been trying my best to follow these ten principles...I have been trying to implement these ten principles in my company...I have been involved in promoting these principles in other companies...and am involved in assessing companies if they follow these ten commandments...in a sense that is my livelihood occupation. It is not a politician's blabber, but an activists understanding.

Ramakrishnan
